HC Deb 19 June 1980 vol 986 c643W
Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what is his latest estimate of the aggregate cost per long-term employee of all forms of support from tax revenues for the Ford Motor Company's plant at Bridgend, following that company's decision to freeze recruitment at less than 75 per cent. of the labour force projected when the financial support package was originally approved.

Mr. David Mitchell

Information is not available to enable calculation of aggregate cost since it is not possible at this stage to say how many jobs can be considered as long term. It is hoped that the limitation on recruitment imposed by the Ford Motor Company will be only temporary.
