§ Mr. Cartwrightasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will ensure that any contract cleaning and catering staff employed at Ministry of Defence establishments are paid in accordance with the fair wages resolution and are employed under similar terms and conditions as directly employed staff.
§ Mr. HayhoeIn line with the fair wages resolution, our standard conditions of contract oblige contractors to give at least the same rates of pay as those accorded to642W equivalent local authority staff : these are closely in line with what we pay our directly employed staff. A similar provision exists on periods of paid leave. Other conditions of service are a matter for negotiation between the contractor and his employees.
