Sir Ian GilmonrI saw the Secretary General of the United Nations when he visited London on 16 April ; he had talks with my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister and my right hon. and noble Friend on the international situation on a subsequent visit from 20 to 23 May. These discussions naturally covered the Middle East and the need for progress towards a settlement of the Arab-Israel dispute.
§ 25. Mr. David Watkinsasked the Lord Privy Seal if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's policy on 519W Palestinian self-determination as a factor in settling conflict in the Middle East.
§ Sir Ian GilmourWe believe that a comprehensive settlement in the Middle East will need to include the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination within the framework of negotiated peace, as well as Israel's right to live in peace and security.
