HC Deb 18 June 1980 vol 986 cc568-9W
Mr. Forrester

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the cost of the repairs and alterations to Jackfield First school, Stoke-on-Trent ; and what contribution has been made by his Department.

Dr. Boyson

The cost of repairs and alterations to this school has been estimated at about £203,000, although the final cost may be higher. A further £15,000 has been allocated by the authority for essential maintenance. My Department does not give grant to local authorities for such work but in this case, as part of a larger project on the renewal of older primary schools in inner urban and rural areas, the building development group is collaborating with Staffordshire county council in carrying out the architectural work which is involved.
