asked the Secretary of State for Employment what has been the numerical trend (a) in female unemployment and (b) in male unemployment since 1970 and since 1975.

[pursuant to his reply, 13 June 1980, c. 249]: The best guide to the trend in unemployment is represented by the seasonally adjusted figures (excluding school leavers). Figures for Great Britain on this basis are set out below for selected dates.

The employment and training services of the Manpower Services Commission include activities and initiatives designed specifically to widen job opportunities women.
