What plans they have to join the "food strategies" scheme sponsored by the World Food Council.
§ Lord CARRINGTONHer Majesty's Government give general support for the "food strategy" concept of the World Food Council as an optional suggestion for developing countries. We are discussing with the Gambian Government whether we might assist them in the preparation of a food strategy under our technical co-operation arrangements.

What part they are taking in the "food strategy" system launched by the United Nations World Food Coun- 952WA cil a year ago, in which 32 developing countries are co-operating to plan programmes for more food growing, improving distribution, and particularly for storing strategic reserves in potential famine areas.
§ Lord CARRINGTONA number of multilateral and bilateral aid agencies are responding to the requests from those of the 32 countries which are seeking assistance in the preparation of a food strategy. Her Majesty's Government are discussing with the Gambian Government whether we might assist them in this way under our technical co-operation arrangements.
