HL Deb 12 June 1980 vol 410 c742WA
The Earl of KIMBERLEY

to ask Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there are any retired public servants, other than five-star retired officers, whose pensions have not, until now, been index-linked.

Lord SOAMES

Retired public servants whose benefits are derived from certain insurance-based schemes may not be eligible for wholly index-linked pensions. In addition, many public service pensioners do not receive pensions increase because they have not yet reached age 55. Five-star retired officers have of course had the benefit of a link with full pay, which in many years has been more advantageous than index-linking.

House adjourned at two minutes past midnight.
