HL Deb 11 June 1980 vol 410 c560WA
Lord CHELWOOD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will propose to the forthcoming European Council that the Euro-Arab dialogue between the European Community and the Arab League countries might be resumed at ministerial level, in spite of the probable absence of Egypt, for a preliminary discussion of the Arab-Israeli dispute with particular reference to the need for Palestinian self-determination in the context of Security Council Resolution No. 242.

Lord CARRINGTON

The level at which the Euro-Arab dialogue should be resumed and the content of future discussions are being considered within the Nine. The European Council will look at this during their meeting in Venice on 12th-13th June.
