§ Mr. Marlowasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in order to prevent women being forced into marriages which they themselves do not wish to undertake, he will change the rules on appeal for entry clearance certificates such that if the woman in question gives confidential and sufficient indication that she does not wish the marriage to take place on her account then the clearance procedures will be terminated without any explanation being given to other interested parties.
§ Mr. RaisonThis would amount to removing a right of appeal. It could not be done by amending the rules. Primary legislation would be required.
