§ Mr. Albert Robertsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment, in view of the large numbers who have lost jobs in the textile industry in West Yorkshire, if he will consider the area as an enterprise zone.
§ Mr. KingEnterprise zones will be up to about 500 acres in extent. Discussions are well advanced with local authorities responsible for the short-list of possible enterprise zones drawn up by the Government. We have agreed to consider proposals for enterprise zones from other authorities and a meeting at official level has been arranged to discuss an inquiry from Wakefield district council.
