HC Deb 09 June 1980 vol 986 c13W
Mr. Nicholas Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what consideration he is giving to the introduction of a new form of incorporation for small firms.

Mr. Eyre

The form of incorporation adopted by most businesses in the United Kingdom is that of a limited company under the Companies Acts. It is for consideration whether the requirements of the Companies Acts are apt to small businesses, or whether an alternative form of corporate structure should be considered.

My Department is considering this question with other interested Departments with a view to publication of a Green Paper.
