§ Mr. Michael Brownasked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) If he is satisfied with the present system of supplying medical materials to the National Health Service ; and if he has any proposals to reform the existing system ;
(2) if he is satisfied with the present system of awarding supply contracts for medical materials to the National Health Service.
§ Dr. VaughanI believe that improvements can be made, and my right hon. Friend is setting up an NHS supply council with responsibility for overseeing the whole of the NHS procurement system and for introducing any changes that it considers desirable.
