§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Trade what information it is intended that directors' reports should contain about the employment of disabled persons under the regulations he proposes to make under the Companies Act 1980; what consultations he has now had on the regulations; and when the order is likely to be laid before Parliament.
§ Mr. EyreI intend to make regulations to require directors' reports for all 815W companies employing more than a specified number of employees in the United Kingdom to contain a statement of the company's policy in respect of the employment of disabled persons. The terms of these regulations are now being finalised in the light of advice received from the National Advisory Council on Employment of Disabled People and from the Manpower Services Commission. I propose to make the regulations as soon as possible after the entry into force on 23 June of section 81 of the Companies Act 1980, which provides the power to alter or add to the statutory requirements for the contents of directors reports by regulations.
