asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) what is the total number of gas showrooms and sales offices owned under freehold; and what is the estimated market value of those properties;

(2) if he will publish in the Official Report the total number of gas showrooms and sales offices in the United Kingdom;

(3) what is the total number of persons employed in gas showrooms and sales offices in the United Kingdom;

(4) what are the total annual maintenance and running costs of gas showrooms

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list in the Official Report the rateable value of each district council area in Northern Ireland, the rates for this financial year

and sales offices in terms of heating, lighting, rent, rates, wages, repairs, sales and marketing activities.

The number of gas showrooms in Great Britain is 931. The other issues raised are matters for the British Gas Corporation, and I have asked the chairman to write to my hon. Friend.
