HC Deb 04 June 1980 vol 985 c772W
Mr. McMahon

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons who received children's attendance allowance at the higher and lower rates, respectively, in 1977–78 no longer did so in 1978–79; and if he will give the figures for each region of England, Wales and Scotland.

Mr. Prentice

[pursuant to his reply, 21 May 1980, c. 230]: The following information relates to Great Britain as a whole: During the year ending 31 December 1979, attendance allowance ceased in respect of 2,145 children for whom it was formerly paid at the higher rate and, in relation to a further 911, the higher rate was reduced to the lower rate. In the same year the allowance ceased for 2,720 children for whom it had formerly been paid at the lower rate.
