§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has studied the recent proposals of the National Union of Licensed Victuallers for extending permitted hours of drinking on licensed premises, giving access to bars to children under 14 years and lowering the drinking age to 16 years; and if he will make a statement of Government policy on these matters.
§ Mr. WhitelawI have received recently from the National Union of Licensed Victuallers a submission proposing changes in the law relating to these and other matters. I am studying the proposals, but I have at present no plans for legislation in this area.
