Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what percentage and number of those males currently unemployed in Scotland are in the age group (a) 50 to 59 years and (b) 60 to 64 years.

10 April 1980, the latest date for which information is available, 13–5 per cent. (17,813) of males registered as unemployed in Scotland were aged 50 to 59 years, and 89 per cent. (11,669) were aged 60 to 64 years.

Not elsewhere classified comprises of Her Majesty's Forces, school leavers and others without recent employment.
