asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what were the death rates from tuberculosis by the following age groups in England and Wales in 1978 and 1979, namely, age: 0 to 14 years, 15 to 29 years, 30 to 44 years, 45 to 59 years and 60 years plus.

The death rates per million population from tuberculosis (including late effects) in England and Wales for 1978 were as follows:—

All ages 18.3
0–14 years 0.8
15–29 years 1.3
30–44 years 4.2
45–59 years 22.5
60+ years 65.7

The figures for 1979 are not yet available.
