HC Deb 02 June 1980 vol 985 c532W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many terrorist attacks have taken place on commercial and industrial properties, respectively, in each of the past 10 years; and what has been the total cost of the damage.

Mr. Alison

It is not possible, except at disproportionate cost, to state the number of terrorist attacks separately on commercial and industrial premises during the 10 years in question, nor the amount of compensation paid before 1978. In 1978–79, £9.93 million was paid in consequence of terrorist damage to privately owned commercial and industrial properties, and in 1979.80 £7.40 million. A number of claims remain outstanding.
