asked the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food if Her

the total financial costs, including administration, of the Agricultural Training Board, the amount disbursed by that body, the number of persons, including secretaries, involved with the body, the amount of payment for, respectively, members of the body by way of salary equivalent expenses of members and secretarial salaries and expenses; and what were the figures in all the above categories in each of the past five years, respectively.

The information requested is as follows:

Majesty's Government are insisting that France refund the levy currently being charged illegally on United Kingdom exports of lamb as part of any settlement of the problem of sheepmeat.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The illegal French restrictions on British lamb exports and the introduction of a Community sheepmeat regime are distinct issues and my right hon. Friend does not accept the link that the French Government have made between them. Levies have been paid by individuals, not by Her Majesty's Government, and it is open to individuals to consider taking action in the French courts for recovery of levies charged illegally.
