Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, pursuant to the written replies which he gave the hon. Member for Southend, East on 19 May, what is his estimate of the factors which contributed to the fact that while less than one secondary pupil in 12 attended a non-maintained school in 1979, 1 in 5 of O-level passes was obtained by these pupils, and I in 4 of A-level passes; and if he will make a statement.

No estimate has been made in the Department of the factors which contribute to this difference.

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of pupils at State secondary schools in 1979 were being educated in grammar schools; and what percentage

give a substantive reply to the written question of the hon. Member for Battersea, South, relating to the Inner London Education Authority, to which he gave a holding reply on 2 May.
