Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the average income per household in (a) each of the Scottish regions and (b) Scotland; and if he will provide a similar figure for districts.

The average weekly household income in Scotland before tax and national insurance etc. in 1978 was £111.29. This information from the family expenditure survey is not available for regions or districts of Scotland. Information on the average income of tax units for the regions of Scotland for 1977–78 is set out in the table below.
