HC Deb 02 June 1980 vol 985 c517W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will list the counties in which electoral boundary reviews are sufficiently advanced for it to be likely that the 1981 county elections will be fought on new boundaries.

Mr. Brittan

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has so far submitted reports on three county electoral reviews. We have made an order implementing the Commission's proposals for Northumberland at the elections to be held in May 1981 and expect to make orders for Nottinghamshire and Shropshire to take effect also at those elections. We cannot say at this stage which other counties will have orders made to take effect in May 1981.
