§ Mr. HurdThe staff-in-post figures for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Diplomatic Service (including the Overseas Development Administration) were 12,039 on 1 April 1979 and 11,565 on 1 April 1980, a contraction of 474 posts. The contraction occurred mainly in the clerical and secretarial grades principally in London.
