HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 c819W
Mr. Myles

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has reviewed the landings allowances for white fish from the North Sea and West of Scotland area; and whether any changes are to be made.

Mr. Younger

Fisheries Ministers keep these allowances under constant review. In the light of the latest available catch figures, it has been decided that with effect from 10 August restrictions on landings by United Kingdom fishing vessels of whiting from the North Sea and from the West of Scotland area will be removed. At the same time the landings restrictions on haddock from these areas will be altered to allow vessels to land up to 24 cwt. per man per week of which not more than 17 cwt. per man per week may be from the North Sea. United Kingdom landings of cod from these areas will remain unrestricted.
