HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 c839W
Mr. Garel-Jones

asked the Minister of Transport (1) what consideration he gave, in his study of tyre sealants, to the report on OKO tyre sealant by the Rubber and Plastics Research Association;

(2) whether he is satisfied with the technical adequacy of the tests on preventive tyre sealants referred to in his answer, Official Report, 21 July, c. 707.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The results of tests carried out so far on sealants that go into undamaged tyres suggest that sealants of this kind do not consistently produce a long lasting seal. Reports by the Rubber and Plastics Research Association on OKO tyre sealant confirm this result. I am satisfied with the technical adequacy of the tests that have been carried out.
