HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 c824W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if any inquiries have been made into pricing policies relating to the sale of steel in the United Kingdom by the Commission of the European Communities under article 2.2 of decision 4/53; and what action has been taken by his Department on any such inquiries.

Mr. Michael Marshall

Commission officials make periodic inspections of steel undertakings in the United Kingdom to verify observance of the requirements of decision 31–53, which is the decision relevant to the publication of steel prices and conditions of sale, but in no case have sanctions been imposed. The Department of Industry is not involved in these inquiries.
