HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 c843W
Sir John Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will reintroduce the compulsory sheep dipping requirement on the same basis as last year.

Mr. Wiggin

As sheep scab is virtually confined to South-West England, the imposition of a compulsory national diping period would not be justified. We shall be applying compulsory dipping to the South-West in the coming season and shall be advising farmers elsewhere that voluntary autumn dipping would be a sensible precaution.
