asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is his estimate of oil refining capacity in Scotland; and how this compares with the level of demand and oil production within Scotland.

In 1979, oil refineries in Scotland had capacity to refine about nine million tonnes of crude oil. In the same year refinery output products in Scotland amounted to about 7.6 million tonnes and inland deliveries to about 9.4 million tonnes. No crude oil is produced within Scotland.
