§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Prime Minister if she will invite scientists from the universities of Nottingham, Leicester and Sheffield to investigate the incident at Hollinwell carnival in Sutton-in-Ashfield on Sunday 13 July, when 200 to 300 children and adults suffered serious sickness from causes as yet unidentified.
§ The Prime MinisterAs indicated by the statement issued last week by the Ashfield district council, the council, in conjunction with a number of other bodies, has carried out a careful investigation into the incident. Scientists from many disciplines have already been closely concerned.
The council hopes to publish a full report by the end of next week. I have at present no grounds for thinking that a further investigation could usefully be undertaken, but, when this full report is 779W available, it will be possible to arrive at a firmer judgment.
