HC Deb 31 July 1980 vol 989 cc843-4W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will reject the City corporation's intention to demolish the Billingsgate fish market building and redevelop the area, in view of the viable project to save the listed building and provide additional facilities put forward by Save Britain's Heritage.

Mr. Heseltine

I am making arrangements for a local public inquiry into the City corporation's application for listed building consent to demolish Billingsgate fish market and the associated application for planning permission to develop the site. The inspector appointed to conduct the inquiry will be able to consider any alternative proposals for the site.
