§ Sir George YoungVoluntary organisations responsible for hostels for alcoholics have been informed that they might be able to benefit from the hostel deficit grant scheme administered by the Department of the Environment. That scheme is available only to housing associations registered by the Housing Corporation under the Housing Act 1974 but the voluntary organisations concerned have been advised that even if they have not been so registered, it is possible for them to benefit indirectly from that scheme if they become linked with a registered housing association. Further action on this is a matter for the voluntary organisations in consultation with the appropriate housing associations.
