HC Deb 30 July 1980 vol 989 cc704-5W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total number of grants approved in 1979 in Wales; and what was their value under (a) the farm capital grant scheme, and (b) the agricultural and horticultural development scheme, respectively.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

During 1979, my agriculture department approved over 8,000 applications for grant-aid under the national scheme—farm capital grant scheme. The estimated cost of the approved proposals was over £23 million and the grant paid amounted to nearly £7 million.

Under the EEC scheme—the farm and horticulture development scheme—over 600 development plans were approved. The approved cost of the proposals was over £33 million and the grant paid was over £5 million.
