asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many adults and young people have been unemployed for (a) one year and (b) two years in: (i) Gosport and (ii) the United Kingdom as a whole, giving the figures in numbers and percentages.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of the total unemployed on the basis of the most recent available monthly figures were (a) textile workers, (b) construction industry workers and (c) construction industry craftsmen; and what were the numbers in each group.

At 8 May, the latest date for which an industrial analysis is available the number of people registered as unemployed in Great Britain whose last employment was in the textiles industries was 34,985, representing 2–4 per cent. of the total unemployed.

The corresponding figure for construction comprised 47,122 craftsmen and 142,432 other construction workers. These represented 3–3 and 9–9 per cent. respectively of the total unemployed.

I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the information is not available in precisely the form requested. Statistics relating to duration of unemployment amongst disabled people are currenly available only for adults and young people who are registered as disabled in Great Britain. This information is set out below. Figures are for January 1980, the latest date available.
