HL Deb 28 July 1980 vol 412 c711WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the corporate character and status of the Community Roots and Resource Centre and whence come its resources and, if Government contribute, what is the annual cost.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Belstead)

We understand that the Community Roots Resource Centre is a charitable trust established to provide advice and assistance to ethnic minority self-help groups and that it is funded primarily by members' subscriptions and private donations. We also understand that the centre received a grant of £3,000 from the Commission for Racial Equality in 1979 as a contribution to its administrative costs. We are not aware that it has been supported by public funds in any other way.
