HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 c492W
18. Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when he next plans to visit Wales; and whether at that time he expects to be in a position to make a statement on the future of the steel industry in Wales.

Mr. Michael Marshall

My right hon. Friend is planning to visit South Wales later this year, but no date has yet been fixed. The future of the steel industry in Wales, as in the country as a whole, depends on BSC's ability to become internationally competitive and commercially viable.
