§ Sir Bernard Braineasked the Lord Privy Seal what tonnage of fish was exported from St. Helena in each of the last 10 years; and what help has been given to improve the fishing industries of the colony.
§ Mr. Nell MartenPrior to 1979, when 64 tonnes were exported, there were no significant exports of fish from St. Helena. Sixty eight tonnes have been exported so far this year. It is anticipated that a further 10 tonnes will be exported by the end of the year. In addition to the help described by my hon. Friend the Member for Cirencester and Tewkesbury (Mr. Ridley) in his reply of 11 Dec-464W ember 1979—[Vol. 975, c. 561]—the island has also received vehicles to enable it to establish an island-wide fish retail delivery system.
