Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the percentage of school leavers at the latest available date who left school with (a) no Scottish certificate of education "O" grades whatsoever and (b), "O" grades at bands D and E only; and if he will provide a breakdown per region.

The percentage of all school leavers who left school in session 1978–79 holding no SCE qualifications or only "O" grades at bands D-E are shown in the table below for each region.
