HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 cc557-8W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the estimated annual cost of the provisions made for mentally retarded children in England.

Sir George Young

The financial data available centrally, which only partially identify expenditure on services for mentally handicapped children, are as follows:

the value of the retirement pension has fallen by 11 per cent., from £23–30 to £20–99 in the case of the pension for a single person, and from £37–30 to £33–61 in the case of a married couple.
