Mr.

Newens asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement on the progress of trade between Great Britain and Iraq over recent months; and if he will give figures to indicate what has been achieved.

Mr. Parkinson

In the first six months of 1980, British exports to Iraq were some £133 million, an increase of 42 per cent. over the figure of £94 million in the comparable period last year.
