HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 cc497-8W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if, in view of threats of terrorist action in Great Britain, in retaliation for Great Britain's unsuccessful attempt to resolve the recent Iranian terrorist activities in London without loss of life, made by guerrillas from the Khuzestan region of Iran and their official spokesman. Nasr Ahmed Nasr, at a recent press conference, he will arrange for special precautions to be taken, including the screening of Iranian citizens and prevention of entry at ports of entry into Great Britain.

Mr. Raison

Immigration officers are well aware of the need for constant vigilance on account of the threat posed by terrorists. In the case of Iranians, the need to obtain visas is an additional safeguard.
