HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 c508W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why there has been a delay between the passage of the Gaming (Amendment) Act 1980 in March and the laying of the appropriate order implementing the powers conferred by the Act; and if he will now take the necessary action to avoid further delay as a result of the impending parliamentary recess.

Mr. Whitelaw

The Government gave no undertaking to make immediate use of the power conferred by this Act to increase the maximum winnings in games of linked bingo, but I hope soon to be in a position to lay an order providing for such an increase.
