HC Deb 28 July 1980 vol 989 cc508-9W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what information he has received in relation to allowances paid to Members of the European Assembly in respect of travel within constituencies, relevant to the exercise of his power under section 2 of the European Assembly (Pay and Pensions) Act 1979.

Mr. Brittan

I understand that an allowance worth about £240 per month will in future be available, against a declaration of expenditure, to Members of the European Parliament for constituency travel, and that certain Members will be given an extra allowance because of the size of their constituencies.
