§ Mr. Giles ShawIt is anticipated that there will be some increase in electricity demand in Northern Ireland due to the rundown of the gas industry. However, it is not possible accurately to forecast the extent of this increase as it will depend on the phasing of the rundown of the gas industry and the choices of individual consumers. It is not expected to be sufficient to absorb all spare generating capacity, particularly in view of the recent downward revision of forecast electricity demand.
