§ Mr. FowlerThe approximate total cost of operating the driver licensing and vehicle registration and licensing systems in 1979–80 was £67 million, of which around £35–5 million was in respect of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre, £12–5 million for operating the local vehicle licensing offices and £19 million mainly for support and agency services provided by other Government Departments and bodies.
