§ 23. Mr. Nicholas Bakerasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will introduce an amendment to the Gas (Consumers' Deposits) (Rate of Interest) Order 1978 to raise the interest payable upon deposits taken by the British Gas Corporation from non-domestic consumers seeking a gas supply for the first time from 7 per cent. to an appropriate rate in the present circumstances.
