HC Deb 23 July 1980 vol 989 c260W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) whether any changes are to be made in Northern Ireland legislation so as to allow private motorists to advertise for the carrying of passengers;

(2) what progress has been made with regard to examination of the insurance position of private motorists who carry fellow workers to their place of employment at a modest charge, whether or not the facility is advertised.

Mr. Goodhart

Following the passage of the Transport Act 1980 it is my intention, at a suitable opportunity, to promote similar legislation for Northern Ireland. My proposals will include provisions about the advertisement of car sharing facilities. I would hope that the insurance companies can modify insurance conditions if Northern Ireland law is brought into line with that recently enacted for Great Britain.
