HC Deb 22 July 1980 vol 989 c121W
Miss Richardson

asked the Lord Privy Seal how much aid his Department is giving to Vietnam; if he intends to increase that aid; and if he will make a statement on his general policy on aid to Vietnam.

Mr. Neil Marten

I refer the hon. Lady to the reply given on 11 July 1979 to my hon. Friend the Member for Northampton, North (Mr. Marlow) in which I said that we should meet commitments carried over from the previous Government in support of the purchase of British ships, and to complete courses of English language training in Britain for Vietnamese teachers.—[Vol. 970, c. 777–75.]

The last 28 Vietnamese teachers have now completed their courses, and a final instalment will shortly be paid in respect of the ship purchase. I have no plans to teachers.—[Vol. 970. c. 177–78.]
