Mr. James Lamond

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) how many applications were received for compensation under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979 for each category of dust-induced industrial disease, both as respects sufferers and dependants;

(2) if he will give the numbers of claims granted, refused and pending for each category of dust-induced disease under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979, and the total value of compensation paid for each disease, together with the total amount of compensation paid under the scheme as a whole.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment (1) what is the total amount of rejected byssinosis claims;

(2) how many claims have been received for payment in respect of byssinosis under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979; and how many have been rejected;

(3) what is the total amount paid in respect of byssinosis claims under the Pneumoconiosis etc. (Workers' Compensation) Act 1979.
