§ Mr. Soleyasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total additional joint finance allocation which is to be made available to area health authorities for 1981–82 and subsequent years in respect of grants to hostels whose funding under circular 21/73 terminated in 1980–81.
§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total additional joint finance allocation 205W which is to be made available to area health authorities for 1981–82 and subsequent years in respect of grants to hostels whose circular 21/73 funding terminated in 1980–81.
§ Sir George YoungIn those cases where the longer-term funding arrangements for such hostels include a joint finance element and the area health authority has fully committed its joint finance allocation for 1981–82, my right hon. Friend has agreed that the area health authority's allocation may be increased by the amount recommended for this purpose by the appropriate joint consultative committee. As these sums will vary from area to area, it is not yet possible to say what the total additional allocation will be in 1981–82. The local authorities would gradually take on these costs in subsequent years in accordance with the normal joint financing arrangements and, in consequence, the amounts provided will reduce over a period.
